Important "Duracoat" Factors

• The "Clog" Factor: In the 11/0 size especially, the Duracoat process can occasionally "clog" a bead hole or make it feel rougher inside. If you find a bead that won't pass your needle, it’s usually just a tiny bit of dried lacquer—don't force it, or you may break the bead.

• Weight Variance: Metallic beads (Galvanized) are generally heavier than opaque or transparent beads. If you are calculating for a large project, always assume you will get fewer beads per gram than you would with a standard glass color.

• Durability: Unlike the "Galvanized Crystal" you asked about earlier, these Duracoat versions are permanent for almost all jewelry applications, including items that touch the skin.

Because the Duracoat finish is a heavy metallic plating topped with a lacquer, these beads are slightly heavier than standard glass. Use these "conservative" counts to ensure you don't run out mid-project:

• 15/0: ~250 beads per gram

• 11/0: ~110 beads per gram

• 8/0: ~38 beads per gram
